A Zvakazarurwa Zvavapostori apostolic sect prophet is in a custody wrangle with his ex-wife whom he accused of abandoning their four-year-old child in Hurungwe.
Charles Matekenya hauled Tendai Tose before Harare Civil court magistrate Barbra Mateko seeking custody of his minor child.
Tendai, however, argued that Charles was a womanizer and it was not possible for her to give him custody of the child.
“This man is a prophet and has many children with different women. I cannot let my child stay with him because he is not a fit father. Right now he is in maintenance arrears, how then is he going to be able to take care of the child?

“He cannot have custody of the child rather; he can have access to the child. The child is temporarily staying with my mother because I wanted help since I have twins who are still young. It is not that the child is going to stay there forever,” she said.
Charles had claimed that his child was not well looked after and was worried about his well being.
“My child was dumped in Hurungwe since she remarried and this worries me. I have not seen my child since 2013 and it is not fair. I have tried to see the child but efforts have been in vain.
“What pains me the most is that I pay maintenance for my child but the money I sent is being used by this woman to take care of her husband and the twins she has.
“I want to stay with my child because I cannot continue to support another man’s children. She is not even staying with the child and I know for a fact that my child is not well where he is in Hurungwe,” he said.
Mateko deferred the matter to today for ruling.
