Celebrities are reacting to Melania Trumpstanding by Donald Trump, despite his “offensive” comments about wanting to sleep with other women. See stars’ reaction tweets below.
As Gossip Cop has reported, video leaked on Friday of Trump telling Billy Bush in 2005 how he tried and failed to “f*ck” an unnamed married woman, later identified as Bush’s “Access Hollywood” co-host, Nancy O’Dell. The footage also featured Trump, who was already married to Melania at the time, talking about forcibly groping women. Celebrities reacted by slamming Trump for the vulgar conversation, for which he has since apologized. He did not, however, apologize publicly to O’Dell or Melania.
On Saturday, Melania, who would become First Lady should Trump win the upcoming presidential election, released her own statement, saying, “The words my husband used are unacceptable and offensive to me. This does not represent the man that I know. He has the heart and mind of a leader. I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world.”

Referencing Melania’s controversial, and partially copied, Republican National Convention speech, Samantha Ronson said, “In her defense, Melania didn’t have Michelle Obama to plagiarize this time.” Taran Killam highlighted the line, “I hope people will accept his apology, as I have,” and wrote, “*apology (certain quality of life).” Chelsea Peretti cracked, “MELANIA WAS LIKE HE HAS THE HEART OF A ….LEADER.” And Andy Cohen simply posted, “#FreeMelania.”
Some on social media have drawn comparisons to Hillary Clinton staying with Bill Clinton, despite his affair with Monica Lewinsky. In response, others have argued the comparison is irrelevant since Hillary is the one running for president right now, and this particular issue is about Trump’s own actions.
