HARARE - A Harare couple has broken up following
accusations that the wife was having an inappropriate relationship with a
congregant from Robert Martin Gumbura’s Independent End Time Message
church. Godfrey Chipadza told magistrate Rekina Dzikiti that his girlfriend,
Amina Mahlathini, is cheating on him with Independent End Time
congregant. This emerged after Mahlathini hauled Chipadza before the Harare Civil Court seeking a protection order against him.
Mahlathini told the court that Chipadza abuses her physically and verbally. She said she no longer loves him and wanted him barred from visiting her.
“He has been assaulting me and rebuking me all the time,” Mahlathini said.
“I have a medical condition which does not allow me to be in a relationship with men. I told him that
I have a wound inside my private part and the doctor said I must not be intimate with any man.” Chipadza refuted his girlfriend’s allegations, saying she never told him that she no longer loves him. He said he was amazed that Mahlathini was referring to him as her “ex-boyfriend.”
“The problem started with a church called Independent End time Message,” he said.
“She used to attend (Emmanuel) Makandiwa’s church and I heard that she is going to Independent End Time Message where she says she was receiving help.
“At one time we attended a funeral and she left the place with a man from the church and they never returned until we buried the deceased. She is having sexual affairs with Independent End Time Message congregants.”
Dzikiti ordered the two to resolve their problems peacefully. She ordered Chipadza to stop abusing his girlfriend physically or verbally.
