There are possibly a million things that men don’t understand about us, women. From our ever changing fashion statements to sudden erratic mood swings. To be fair, men aren’t that easy to understand either. Just saying.
Well, anyway here are the top five things that guys find really hard to understand about girls:
1. What’s with all the shoes? We go crazy gaga over shoes. That we won’t deny. Research states that women own an average of 20 pairs of shoes. Well, I only own a dozen pair of shoes. Two of them I’ve only worn once or twice. The newest pair, I got from my husband as a Christmas gift, I haven’t used it yet. Shoes make us feel good. Our brain releases the pleasure hormone and neurotransmitter dopamine, whenever we get to wear our favorite footwear. Not only that, it also stimulates an area in the prefrontal cortex that is responsible for the collecting behavior. That could explain why I’m still on the lookout for a pair of black peep-toed pumps.
2. Bathroom habits. Guy’s always wonder why we go into toilets in group. There’s a lot happening in a girl’s bathroom, other than doing the “business”. We fix ourselves in front of the mirror; borrow each other’s make-up if needed. Yes, we gossip and talk about other people inside the bathroom. But there’s also a lot of pep talk going on. We sometimes need a little validation from our girlfriends. You know just to make sure that the dress doesn’t make us look fat or it isn’t showing too much skin, among other things. Also, public toilets could be such a scary place. You never know what could happen while you’re inside the cubicle. It helps to know that your friends got your back.
3. Talking. A lot. A woman is rarely at a loss for words. It’s either we really are happy we can’t say anything without succumbing to tears or you really pissed us off. Research found that girl’s really talk a lot compared to boys. No surprise there, buddy. That’s 20,000 words a day. A whooping 13,000 words more than the average guy. I’m not saying that women are more fluent than men. It’s just women have more language protein in our brain. That’s why we develop our first words more quickly and have wider vocabularies.
4. Periods. Yes, it hurts. Imagine if you get kicked in the balls once a month. Like really bad. So have some consideration. We often are in a bad mood when we’re having one. Blame it on the hormones that are raging all over our body when that time of the month comes. Or maybe we just didn’t get enough rest because pain wakes you up in the middle of the night and we wake up to our lovely bed looking like a crime scene. We just need a little pampering and maybe a few boxes of chocolate.
5. Emotions. Sometimes we tend to over-react and we let our feelings take over. Sometimes we’re letting too much drama in. Guilty as charged. But we try to keep our feelings out of the way as well. That’s why we say we’re okay even when we’re about to breakdown. But our emotions aren’t always causing trouble. It’s also what men love about us. Admit it, guys. You find us cute when the smallest gesture amuses us. You like us when we worry over you. You love us when we are passionate about certain things. Especially about you.
