Speaking to NewsDay, Tocky Vibe’s manager Elvis Bokosha said he was surprised by the reports because as far as he was concerned, all the actors who featured in the video, except volunteers, were paid their dues.

“My artiste is a professional performer and we do our business in a professional way. When we shot that Mhai video we paid everyone who was supposed to be paid and those people claiming that they have been used have their own agenda,” Bokosha said.

“Some of those people who featured in that video were volunteers and we made it clear to them from the start that we were not going to pay them and agreed as a way of supporting Tocky.”

Bokosha said Tocky’s meteoric rise to fame could have made the actors, who include Ronnie Kapeta and Susan Matara as well as transporter Edmore Chikowore, feel that they had to be paid.

Chikowore, who was hired to transport the actors, said he was only paid $12.

“It is almost five months struggling to recover my money from Tocky Vibes and is being elusive each time I phone him. His manager is not co-operating at all that have left me with no hope whether I will get my money,” Chikowore said.

Tocky Vibes recently told NewsDay that some sections of the media and music promoters were being unfair on him and were making his life difficult.

“I know it does not have to be easy because I am not a fly-by-night artiste. I am going to be around for much longer than anticipated and I have to endure all this,” he said. NewsDay
