Dendera musician Suluman Chimbetu struck his 10th endorsement deal after he was announced brand ambassador of Savanna Tobacco together with dancehall artiste Tocky Vibes.

The musicians signed the deal at a function at Savanna Tobacco offices in the capital on Wednesday.

Sulu is the brand ambassador for Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Services, Cooperate 24, Zimbabwe Amalgamated Housing Association and Zimbabwe National Roads Administration among others. He will represent the Pacific Breeze while Tocky will represent Pacific Storm.

Though Chief Operating Officer of Savanna Tobacco Tongesai Zvaravanhu could not reveal the figure of the endorsement, we are reliably informed that Sulu pocketed $15 000 while Tocky Vibes got $10 000.

“We cannot disclose the figures but just know that it is a lot of money,” said Zvaravanhu.

Zvaravanhu said they have chosen the two artistes basing on their character and works.

“We are proud to make Zimbabwe’s finest cigarettes, and we believe that it is our duty to support all of Zimbabwe’s finest achievers. We have always brought pleasure to our consumers through supporting the music scene. We are now taking the next step in identifying Zimbabwe’s finest musicians, partnering them to develop and inspire each other and our various audiences, in celebrating our country and its aspirations,” he said.

He said there are other two artistes who were also endorsed but will be unveiled at a gig that will be held end of January.

This publication is reliably informed that the musicians are Jah Prayzah and Jayz Marabini. In his acceptance speech Sulu said the move by the company to work with local artists was a clear indication that local companies are embracing the Zim-Asset.

“The year 2015 has started on a high note with these endorsements and I am proud to be working with Savanna because I am a tobacco farmer. This shows that economic blue print the Government introduced is being implemented,” he said.

Tocky thanked the organisation for the recognition they have given to Zimdancehall.

“This is a positive move towards the growth of Zimdancehall. We will continue to work hard so that we get more local support,” he said.

This is the first mega deal for the dancehall musician who has been hailed for his clean lyrics. The Herald
