Afrimma award winner Cindy Munyavi’s celebration party that was held at Sphinx Club, Harare, was a success after a huge turnout of celebrities and the famous.
The star-studded party was hosted by Platinum Entertainment and ran under the theme “Classy, Elegant and Style”.
Speaking on the sidelines of the party, guest of honour, National Arts Council of Zimbabwe director Elvas Mari congratulated Cindy for the award and said other artist should emulate her.
“This is a big award not only for her but for the nation as well. It shows that something good is being brewed in our country. We have a lot of talented musicians who are putting Zimbabwe on the map which is good but I urge others too to follow Cindy’s footsteps,” he said.
He said artists and musicians are free to submit their works to various awards world wide.
“There is no limitation that musicians, actors or artists should only submit their work in Zimbabwe. There are numerous platforms across the world. What we only request is for us to be told about the developments. We only heard about Cindy’s award after she won. There is need for us to know same time as the submitter so that whatever happens we won’t be shocked and we have to plan together if possible,” he said.
NACZ director said so far nothing is in pipeline for Cindy’s appreciation. “So far there is nothing but I thank the companies that have organised such celebrations which is a noble idea. For instance when the Warriors are planning to go and play a tournament the nation will know prior to event same as reality show like Big Brother the country would know so that when the players return home they receive celebratory welcome. If resources permit we will organise something for her,” he said.
The award winner said was happy and thanked the nation for supporting her.
“I did it because of the people. I believe we should support each other in order to develop the arts sector. I was there and learnt a lot on our missing link of which it starts from support and appreciation. For example, the Nigerians are dominating because of their support and ours too because we tend too love their music also.
“It is the biggest achievement in my music career and being the best female musician in the Southern Africa is motivating. I am now a role model to many,” she said. Herald
