Musician Rockford ‘Roki’ Josphats’ 29th birthday party was held on Saturday at a glittering reception at the Beer Engine.

It was a glitzy affair, but the glamour was dampened by the absence of women in his life.

Roki’s ex-wives, Pauline Gundidza and Melody Musekiwa, were conspicuous by their absence at the party.

Sources in Roki’s camp told The Zimbabwe Mail the two were not amused with Roki’s new relationship with fellow musician Amarra Brown.

“Pauline and Melody are not happy with his (Roki) new relationship with Amarra, that is why they did not attend the party,” said one of Roki’s associates, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

“Every year they grace Roki’s birthday parties, but this time around they are both not happy with his new catch.”

Roki’s new girlfriend, Amarra, also did not turn up at the party.

In an interview with The Zimbabwe Mail on the sidelines of the party, Roki said there was nothing sinister about the women’s absence.

“Well, it’s really not a big deal my brother,” said Roki.

“Every year I have separate parties , one to celebrate with my fans like this one and I also have a private function at my home where I celebrate my birthday with my family.”

He highlighted that Amarra was honouring the month of Ramadan as espoused in her religious beliefs.

“Amarra is not partying because she is observing the month of Ramadan in line with her religious beliefs and I do respect that,” explained Roki.

Meanwhile, the birthday party was graced by several musicians including Nesto Manandi, Arnold Gara, Dino Mudondo, Goodchild, Ngoni Kambarami among others.

Entertainment was provided by Platinum Entertainment dee-jays Big Dollar Bruce, Young Sibs and Young Fresh who were alternating on the turntables.

Roki was celebrating his 29th birthday.
