The Head of State Paul Biya has urged Cameroonians to learn to forgive and forget so as to build a strong nation and work for a common goal.

In his latest series of tweets, the 86-year old calls for Cameroonians to look towards the future and cultivate mutual forgiveness as a path to lasting peace in Cameroon.

The essential thing today is to forgive & to forget, to work together towards a common goal. We cannot, at one & the same time, look towards the future & live in the past. Mutual forgiveness is the path to lasting peace.

It is not clear what inspired Paul Biya’s tweet today but analysts suspect it could be directed at detained opposition rival Maurice Kamto.

Analysts say Paul Biya’s previous tweets last weekend on tribalist could be a strong message to Maurice Kamto and this could be the start of a ‘reconciliation’ between both political opponents.
