All is now set for results of the October 7 Presidential election to be proclaimed after the Constitutional Council completed hearings on petitions filed by opposition candidates for the cancellation of the election.

The hearings that lasted for over three days saw the Council reject the petitions filed by Maurice Kamto of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement, Joshua Osih of the SDF, Cabral Libii of Univers and Bertin Kisob.

On Thursday night, the Counstitutional Council threw out Maurice Kamto’s petition describing it as unfounded despite days of hearings.

That was just a sign for things to come as the hearing of Joshua Osih’s petition dragged into the early hours of Friday but did not yield the results SDF supporters would have been hoping for.

Though admissible, the Constitutional Council simply described the SDF petition as unfounded due to lack of evidence to back up their claims.

This now paves the way for the President of the Constitutional Council Clement Atangana and his team to proclaim the results which falls within the 15 days after the polls as provided by the electoral code.
