It is one year exactly today May 31st 2018, that the white Prado matriculated CE 9503 V of the late Bishop of Bafia Jeen Marie Benoit Bala was discovered at the Ebebda bride of River Sanaga, signaling his disappearance.

On the passenger's seat inside the late prelate's car that fateful May 31st, 2017 was his vehicle and personal identification documents, and a suicide note that read "Je suis dans l'eau" - 'I am inside the water'.

Everyone thought the prelate had committed suicide, and so a search team made of military marine, local divers and fishermen plunged into the depths of the river Sanaga, hoping to find him in the belly of the waters dead of alive.

They returned to the shores unsuccessful, when the waters had grown high. The search continued the next day, which was June 1, 2017.

When all hope was lost on the 2nd of June 2017, a fisherman who went to untie his both, found the body of the prelate floating at the lights waters of the banks of River Sanaga at Ntsang Village Monatele, in the Lekie Division of the Center Region.

He raised alarm, and divers came over, collected the lifeless body and took it to the shore of the Ebebda bridge, where it was visited by religious, administrative and judicial authorities.

A team of inter-pool doctors from Germany were brought into the country by the government for a post mortem to be carried out on the body.
