King Mswati’s eighth wife -Senteni Masango died last week on Friday as a result of an alleged suicide.

She reportedly overdosed herself on about 40 amitriptyline capsules – widely used to block the long-term (chronic) pain of some rheumatic conditions and treat depression and related disorders, following the death of her sister Nombuso Masango two weeks ago.

She was buried yesterday at Ludzidzini royal residence as per the dictates of Swazi royal family tradition.

The King’s wife is survived by two daughters.

It is alleged that the king had not approved of her attending her late sister’s memorial service and funeral sending her into a further downward spiral.

It was also rumored that she lived alone for more than three years in a big mansion with not even a single visit from her husband, the king.

King Mswati III chose his eighth bride Inkhosikati LaMasango, who was only 18 at the time, in September 1999.
