Former Cameroonian striker Samuel Eto’o has denied claims that he personally purchased plane tickets for Cameroonian migrants allegedly stranded in Libya to return home.

His denial comes in the wake of pictures shared on social media appearing to show migrants returning home from Libya after being released from slavery.

The images are reportedly of Burkinabé migrants who had been living in Libya for decades returning home in 2016 after fleeing the desperate humanitarian situation that has been exacerbated by the conflict.

In a Facebook post, Eto’o who played for Chelsea, Inter Milan and Barcelona in his glittering career, also sought to pt the records straight terming the claims as baseless rumours. nairobinews.nation.co.ke
