Zari Hassan is wife to East Africa’s top artist Diamond Platinumz with whom they have a daughter and a son. The pair started dating back in 2014 following the break up of Diamond and actress Wema Sepetu.

Ivan Ssemwanga and Zari have three sons’ together.

Childhood background: Born on the 23rd of September 1980. Zari grew up in a town called jinja in a country situated in east Africa known as Uganda, she attended her primary and later moved to Jinja girls high School where she thought to cultivate very positive personalities and passionate attitude towards achieving her dreams, on completion she moved to the city of kampala (The country capital city) where she performed karaoke in hang-outs during are vacation before she moved to London and acquired a diploma in cosmetology.

Music history: Zari started singing at early age in her primary days where she performed in musical concerts organized by her primary school staff, school’s end of the year functions and other community competitions representing her own school in shining colours. When she gained entrance into high school she joined the dance, drama and music groups which helped her score best actress for 2 consecutives years. After years of brilliant stage performances and school concerts, She took a break after moving from Uganda to London and continued with her studies but still with the compelling passion of music on her mind.

Zari with support from family fans and friends who love her style of music and believe in her career took a bold step in 2007 recording her 1st single called oliwange (meaning you’r mine) .The single album luckily made it to the Africa channel o awards in the category of best east African video of the year. The awards where held in South Africa, Johannesburg. Since then Zari has released more and more interesting tracks with satisfactory acholades from her fans in the recent times.

In 2009 she scored the Diva awards award of the year in the Diaspora category since then she has just continues making more music.

Zari (Zarinah Hassan) is a Ugandan musician.

Her heritage involves many countries, her grandfather on her moms’ side is Indian and her grandmother Ugandan, her grandfather on her dads’ side is Somalian and her grandmother a Burundian.

She grew up in Uganda doing karaokes and performances but now lives in South Africa where she runs cosmetics shop and a tertiary college in Pretoria while pursuing a career in music. She won a Channel O Music Video Award nomination for best East African artiste in 2008.
