Ms Vera had sex with the boy almost every day for nine months, according to an Aldine Independent School District Police Department spokesperson.
She was initially charged with continuous sex abuse of a child, which carries a possible life sentence, though pleading guilty to the lesser charge potentially cuts her sentence down to 30 years.
Ms Vera was arrested by Montgomery County Police after she acknowledged having a sexual relationship with a child.
She told authorities that the sexual encounters started in last September after they met at a middle school. They texted and flirted for some time before they kissed in Ms Vera’s car.
They went on to have sex at the boy’s home and sleepovers at Ms Vera’s house.
She claims they had a relationship and that they ‘love each other’.
The boy’s parents were allegedly aware of their relationship, with Ms Vera attending family gatherings and being introduced as his girlfriend.
The boy, now 14 years old, is now in foster care where he will remain until August 2017. His parents have been ordered to attend parenting classes and therapy.
