‘I Am Not Included In France Squad Because Am Of African Origin” - Says Karim Benzema

A few weeks ago Eric Cantona was under fire because he openly stated that Karim Benzema and Ben Arfa were excluded from the French national team for the 2016 Euros because of their African origin. Didier Deschamps, the French coach has vowed to sue Cantona for this.

Collectives and individuals believed Cantona but i didn’t. Today I am starting to consider Cantona’s statement.

French and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has accused national team manager Didier Deschamps of racially-charged squad selections.

“He has bowed to the pressure of a racist part of France,” Benzema, who is of Algerian descent, told Marca.com “He has to know that in France the extremist party reached the second round in the last two elections. “I do not know, therefore, whether it is a decision only for Didier, because I’ve gotten along with him, with the president… everyone.”

In an interview with Spanish sports newspaper Marca published Wednesday, Benzema said he does not believe that Deschamps is a racist, but that he “bowed to the pressure of a racist part of France.”

Deschamps has been a long-time supporter of Benzema, who has been suspended from the national team because of his involvement in an extortion scam over a sex tape involving France teammate Mathieu Valbuena.
“I would have liked to play for my country, but unfortunately that’s impossible,” said Benzema, who is of Algerian descent. “Missing the 2010 World Cup in South Africa was a setback, but the European Championship at home is even harder. This is one of the biggest disappointments I have had, without a doubt.”

Disciplinary speaking Karim should have faced sanctions even fiercer ones. One the Contrary regarding the recent form of Ben Arfa there is no doubt he should have been included for 2016 Euro.
