7. Robbie Williams, $125 million (R1,96 billion)

Williams might come as a bit of a surprise because he is not the most relevant of artists at the moment. But in 2002, the singer bagged the second-biggest record deal of any British artist with EMI and went on to record his biggest international hit to date: Feel.

6. Adele, $130 million (R2,04 billion)

While not yet official, singer-songwriter Adele has reportedly signed a $130 million (R2,04 billion) deal with Sony Music. This does not come as a surprise since Adele’s music has broken every record that comes to mind. This deal would be largest for any British artist and for any woman in history.

5. Bruce Springsteen, $150 million (R2,36 billion)

Springsteen is a bit of a golden oldie; he has been active in the music industry since 1965 – that’s over 50 years! The Boss and his E Street Band still regularly reach the top of the Billboard charts without breaking a sweat. In 2005, Springsteen signed a massive $150 million deal with Columbia Records.

In 2008, Big Pimpin’ star Jay-Z left his longtime record label Def Jam and signed a one-of-a-kind deal with concert promotions giant Live Nation. The deal didn’t only have to do with Jay-Z’s music and albums, but it also meant Line Nation got a stake in the rapper’s investments, acquisitions and publishing rights.

3. Lil Wayne, $150 million (R2,36 billion)

In 2012, Cash Money put out the dough for Lollipop rapper Lil Wayne, offering him a whopping $150 million (R2,36 billion) to keep him on board. Despite this, the tattooed star is currently embroiled in a legal battle with the label, claiming that they owe him compensation for discovering and nurturing the talents of Drake and Nicki Minaj.
