A Navy officer was charged with espionage and attempted espionage, newly released court documents show, according to ABC News.
The officer, who was not identified, was charged eight months ago, but details of the case were first made public Friday at a hearing to determine whether the will go to a court martial.

He has been held in pre-trial confinement in Chesapeake, Va., since his arrest about eight months ago in an airport.
The heavily redacted documents did not reveal where the alleged espionage occurred, but charged that the officer "with intent or reason to believe it would be used to the advantage of a foreign nation, attempt to communicate SECRET information relating to the national defense to a representative of a foreign government."
