Iggy Azalea has clarified that in fact she did not have a real "psychotic breakdown" but was just over exaggerating when she said that in a recent interview with the British magazine Schön!.

Speaking with Carson Daly on 97.1 AMP Radio Friday (March 18) morning, the Australian-born rapper was asked about the comment to which she replied with a laugh, "Well, not psychotic. I'm a bit of an exaggerator."

She went on, "I think it can get a bit claustrophobic -- this whole gossip thing that we have in the entertainment industry. It almost reminds me of a soap opera. It's like other people write your narrative for the soap opera and it is your real life and you might not want to have that storyline."
Iggy Izalea performs on Day 4 of the RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest on July 11, 2015 in Ottawa, Canada.
Azalea described the media frenzy that surrounded her last year, saying she was followed by paparazzi constantly and couldn't even be in her own garage without people taking pictures of her. In turn she said, she tried to be as boring as possible to deter the unwanted attention, adding that getting off social media "helped a lot" to get her in a better place.

"I think it was very negative -- just putting me in a dark place. I already had enough going on. I had a lot of stuff going on personally as well that wasn’t anything to do with who's dissing who or any of that kind of stuff. I had real life stuff going on on top of that. So, it was just a lot of stuff for me to handle and I think the social media stuff on top of that just kind of took it over the edge a bit for me."
She also explained that these experiences influenced her lead single, "Team," off her new album, Digital Distortion, which she said will be out in early June.

"Well, if I’m gonna have everyone try to come at me, then I have to support my own self and I have to be strong on my own and I don’t need all of that extra stuff," she said. "I'm just gonna rock this out myself."
