A 22-YEAR-OLD man will spend 10 months behind bars after he was convicted for impregnating his minor lover.

Brian Mutunhi was initially sentenced to 15 months in prison before five were suspended on condition of good behaviour.

He will effectively serve the remaining 10.Mutunhi had pleaded guilty to have se_xual intercourse with a minor when he appeared before a Mbare magistrate.Circumstances are that sometime in June last year Mutunhi proposed love to a 14 year-old girl.

She accepted the proposal and after a month of dating things took a different turn. Mutunhi tricked the girl into going to his friend’s place of residence, where he had se_x with the minor.

The girl’s mother suspected her daughter of being pregnant. She took her to a doctor who confirmed her fears. A complaint was lodged with the police leading to Mutunhi arrest.
