TAXI driver Nikelo Khatola thought he would treat his girlfriend to some Easter spiritual upliftment. So he bought a DVD featuring his favourite pastors and gospel singers on its label.
And they sat down to enjoy holy inspiration.
But when Nikelo (40) pushed the play button, they got the shock of their lives.
It wasn’t born-again sermons and hymns – it was a porn movie!
Now the angry Nikelo from KwaZakhele in Port Elizabeth vows he’ll never buy fake stuff again. It nearly cost him his true love. He said he bought the bargain three-in-one DVD at the stalls in Korsten, Port Elizabeth.
“I was looking for a gospel DVD to get spiritual upliftment for Easter,” he said.
“My girlfriend and I are members of the African Methodist Episcopal Church and we love gospel music.
“I bought the DVD for R40 because on its cover it had my favourite pastors and gospel singer.”
“I was so embarrassed. My girlfriend thought I had planned this thing.
“But I told her I was fooled by the seller,” he said.
“I am glad she has forgiven me. Now I’m appealing to everyone not to buy fakes. This nearly cost me my lover of eight years.”
His girlfriend Lungiswa Maseti (36) said: “These two pastors lift my spirit so I was shocked and angry when I saw a porn movie pop up on the TV screen.
“I asked him how he could keep a porn movie in our house as we are Christians.
“We had a heated argument. He apologised and said he thought it was a gospel DVD when he bought it.”
