HARARE - The recently announced nominations of ZimDancell awards have been equated to a Boko Haram modus operandi, after almost all artistes linked to the same stable got nominated.

Music pundits have raised red flags because of the seemingly corrupt formula used to choose nominees to the popular genre. So fishy is the award process that one anylsist has likened them to Boko Haram, an extrimist group that has targeted inocent citizens.
ZimDancehall Boko Haram invades the awards
"Most of the characters involved in oraganising the yearly awards were recruited from one stable that has been offered nominations under dubious conditions. I was not suprised that all Dangerzone crew artistes were nominated such as Freeman, Jay C, Darula, Lady Squanda, DJ Staera, Viviun, Jerry B and Crystal."

DR Clarence a respected musical producer likened the nominations to terrorist operation.

"This is like an invasion by Boko Haram in the Zimbabwe dancehall music circles were a single stable dominates the awards."

Such is the apparent dubious method that people who were niminated are also linked to the same procedure.

"For starters, Simple Hilary Matake aka Punchline is Freeman's manager and he is running around with awards logistics together with Levels's Cousin Phinus," charged the respected producer.

Some artists questioned the methodology used.

"Its known all over that ZimDancehall ladies always team up against Lady Bee, is it because she now drives a Mitsubishi and a Benz?."

Freeman is nomited in more than one category and he is guranteed of an award come the final day. Apart from the best male artiste, he is nominated in the best stage perfomer and best dressed artiste categories.

Musical promoters also stated that event organisers must be well prepared if they are to avoid ugly scenes that characterised the inaugural awards ceremony that was marred by violence. Dancehall has suddenly become the biggest movement on the Zimbabwean showbiz scene, but the vice that it brings along have also been worrisome.

Of late, the genre has been invaded by ugly scenes that has left many people injured.
