"Tit for tat is a fair game"
This adage seems to have worked well in Gospel Musician Mathias Mhere's marriage after his wife of six years cheated on him with his own best friend and fellow Gospel Musician Gift Mahlupeka.
Susan Dzinamarira who has been gravely humiliated after her WhatsApp messages of asking for sex from Mathias Mhere's best friend went viral, it only took her just a single day to lure her 26-year-old husband into accepting her apology and pretend as if nothing ever happened.
While love matters are personal, however a lot of My Zimbabwe News fans who are also Mathias Mhere's music lovers were not pleased with the "Favour" hit maker. It appeared to have been common belief to most of My Zimbabwe News followers that God had done a big favour to Mhere by letting him know that his own wife whom he has sired three children with since 2009 when Mhere was 20, is always ready to lease her sexual goodies to her husband's closest friend.
"What an idiot!" Cuthbert Murwisi wrote on My Zimbabwe Facebook page while blasting the ever-forgiving musician, maybe he was not expecting a quick apology-acceptance from Mhere in this matter.
However, after a close analysis done by My Zimbabwe News, Mhere supposedly had no choice but to forgive his wife and carry on with life after the musician also grabbed news headlines when he was accused of cheating on his wife with a Midlands State University (MSU) student.
What exposed Susan and Gift's illicit affair (WhatsApp) is also what exposed Mhere's alleged love scandal with the varsity student.
In case you didn't read Mhere's alleged love scandal, It was reported that the Vimba NaJehovha singer was allegedly refusing to pay back $30 he borrowed from a female Midlands State University student that he gave a lift to Harare. The married gospel artiste allegedly opted to send love messages on WhatsApp to the student instead.
The then 24-year-old Mhere is said to have borrowed the money to buy a second hand tyre after their car had a tyre burst near Norton while on their way to Harare.
Miss Mitchelle Jowa, who was a psychology student at the Gweru-based university, boldly reported that Mhere was sending her love messages addressing her as "babe" instead of discussing how he intended paying her back her money.
She alleged that Mhere would call her on her mobile phone telling her to "forget" about her money, if she continues to spurn him.
This reporter saw some of the Whatsapp messages, which Mhere allegedly sent to Miss Jowa.
"How are u Mitchelle this morning, takasvika na 11pm babe," read one of the messages.
She said Mhere, who was travelling with his friend and fellow band member, Elliot Mugadza, borrowed $30 from her, claiming they wanted to fix the tyre. "I reluctantly gave them my $30 on the understanding that he (Mhere) was a popular gospel singer. They had also promised to send my money through EcoCash," she said.
Miss Jowa said instead of receiving an EcoCash message on her phone from Mhere, she started receiving love messages from the gospel singer. "I told Mhere that I needed my money back since I wanted to use it as bus fare to Gweru. He later became hostile after I indicated that I was not interested in dating him. He is no longer responding to my calls," said Miss Jowa.
When reached for comment back then, Mathias Mhere refused to entertain the news crew of the allegations levelled against him.
Interestingly, In Susan and Gift's WhatsApp conversations, the two would also refer to each other as "babe". Maybe Susan had learnt it from her hubby when she learnt about the alleged Mathias-Mitchelle love scandal which only failed to materialise as Mitchelle was not interested in dating Mhere, it was reported.
After taking this into consideration, it seemingly would have been very naive and unfair for Mhere to shut the "second chance door" for his wife after she also cheated on him. If their marriage was soccer, the score line as far as the public is concerned, would read 1-1 which is a draw!
This is probably the reason why the Usavimbe Nemunhu song writer found it very easy to forgive his cheating wife. Or maybe as a man of God, he strongly believes in the bible verse which says "Do unto others as you want them to do unto you". We're sure he too wants his wife to forgive him in case another WhatsApp scandal leaks!
