CAPE TOWN – A 3-year-old girl is in a serious condition at the Frere hospital after she was allegedly attacked by her grandfather.

It’s believed the child, who sustained a number of stab wounds, was beaten with a broken glass bottle.

The Eastern Cape Health Department’s Sizwe Kupelo says, “It’s alleged, the child was attacked in Butterworth by her grandfather and sustained multiple stab wounds. She remains in ICU.”

At the same time, also in the Eastern Cape, eight people from Peddie have been hospitalised for food poisoning after drinking sour milk.

Two people remain in intensive care after they were admitted to the East London hospital on Friday.

It’s understood the hospital is doing tests on product samples the victims, aged between 16 and 18, consumed.

Eastern Cape Health Department’s Sizwe Kupelo says, “Two of them that were in critical condition, are now in stable condition but remain in ICU.”
