It has been branded as ‘gosprenuer’ the latest terminology to hit the streets of Harare. Inside the ‘spiritually guarded echelons’ are the likes of Prophet Passion Java, the leader of Passion Java ministries, a self-titled church.
Like a business project, many worshippers have rushed there in prospects of a better life which is normally promised by the founders. Add to that, splendor and miracles galore have become the order of the day in these churches. Cash barons trample on each other to claim the word as they pour our money during services.
Prophet Passion Java, who claims to be 31, has gone overboard in his discharge of miracles. Among some of his known miracles, he managed to reveal a stranger’s identity card number without even looking at it. In addition, he could visit any one’s house aboard the so-called ‘spiritual chariot’ and proceed to reveal every tiny detail about the house.
Though this has happened before in the prophetic era to dawn Zimbabwe, it is the age and livelihood of the man that raises more questions. At a tender age, he lives like a rock star. He has been spotted in town issuing handouts to street kids. That not all. He was reported to have splashed a whopping $500 000 for his subordinates at a Harare car dealership.
His services are often filled to capacity. Latest models of cars are the order of the day. Though his fortunes are said to be dwindling locally, he was once a force to reckon with. Recently, he is rumored to have relocated to America to launch his ministry abroad. He is also reported to be crisscrossing to Jamaica and rarely attends the local church in Harare. Prophet Passion is a man of God but his overzealous security always surround him like a politician.
According to privy information, Prophet Passion lives an above normal life. He says everything he has are gifts from God like one of his cars, a latest Jaguar F3. Born in Chitungwiza, his upbringing was modest. Back then, he started as a member of the Tabernacles of Grace ministries, a church founded by his brother.
Fast forward to few years later, he now owns a plush house in Borrowdale Brooke, the country’s number platinum residence. He also, drives a latest Chrystler among a fleet of flashy cars. He also launched a television station K-TV which beams across the globe. The channel is available on the free to air frequency.(KTV IntelSat 20, frequency 12.722, position 68.5, symbol rate 26.657).
In 2010, Chitungwiza residents flocked to his interfaith services at the Aquatic Complex where he attracted more than 5 000 people, revealed one worshipper. In Cape Town he became an instant hit with his miracles, earning him the nickname ‘ID Prophet’. In 2012 started Kingdom Embassy, later transformed to Passion Java ministries. Since then, the church has generated a large following.
The ministry’s spokesperson is reluctant to dwell into his superior’s private life, opting to say, “I will not speak about the prophet’s private life, but what I can tell you is that the man of God is anointed and he was also groomed by other great men of God in the country who I will not mention by name. Prophet Passion is an entrepreneur with interests in different sectors, so age is nothing but just a number especially if you believe in God.”
What still raises a stink is how he managed to acquire so much at a tender age. The spokesperson was persistent during a recent interview with a Harare publication. Information gleaned from sources says, he is married to Prophetess Yasmin and the couple is blessed with a son. He was raised in the dormitory town of Chitungwiza, before he became a famous preacher. Of late, his sojourn to America has raise ire as is suggested he will relocate there for a while. Currently, his local assembly is a ghost of its former blossoming church.
