A Chitungwiza man has been swindled $7000 by a self styled Prophet.
The man, Passmore Chiota had approached the prophet because he was tormented by evil spirits and the Chitungwiza prophet told him that he could help him.
But the Prophet charged him $7 000.
A desperate Chiota agreed to pay the money to the prophet ,Mathew Rumani (28) from Zengeza 4. The cleansing was supposed to take place in Nyamaropa. The pair then set off for Nyamaropa on November 14 after the prophet was given the cash.
However, while waiting along Mutare Road, the prophet made excuses and vanished. Chiota realised that he had been duped and reported the matter to the police. The prophet was arrested two days later.
He appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Lazarus Murendo on Monday facing a charge of fraud. He was remanded in custody to Friday.
