Raunchy dancer Beverly ‘Bev’ Sibanda has clashed with Utakataka Express band leader Peter Moyo following accusations that Moyo is fleecing her.
The two entered an agreement where Bev would perform at Moyo’s shows and get 30% of the gate takings.
The synergy has been in existence for five months but Bev last week boycotted Moyo’s shows in protest.
She argued that she was a bigger crowd puller than Moyo, hence she deserved more dividends.
“We are bigger crowd pullers than Peter (Moyo) so we deserve more money. We made it clear to him (Peter), but he refused to revise our dividend.
“Last week we had a show in Chiredzi and people were shouting our name and booing Peter. We are the bigger crowd puller and Peter is trying to use us,” said Bev’s manager, Hapaguti Mapimhidze.
He revealed that they were now holding solo shows and without Utakataka Express.
“We are now holding our own shows without Peter, and we believe it will help us maximise our income.
“Tomorrow (today) we will be at Juru Growth Point, and the next day we will perform at Joy Night Club in Glen-Norah,” added Mapimhidze.
Peter and Bev have had an on and off working relationship, and at one time they were alleged to be dating.
Peter, however, dismissed the speculative reports, saying he was just a close friend with Bev.
