The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has expressed surprise on the hypocritical manner in which the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) is playing its political games.
DPP’s publicity secretary Nicholas Dausi said it was a surprise that the MCP was behaving in a very strange way as if their leader Reverend Lazarus Chakwera is not a Man of God.
“When they were leading MCP supporters celebrated in style at its tally centre in Lilongwe, but suddenly the celebrations were short-lived after realizing that DPP had taken over the lead. Even with irregularities, MCP supporters were celebrating. So when did they discover those so called irregularities?.
“They are just hell-bent at blocking our unavoidable ascension to power, but we are promising them that DPP’s victory can be delayed but cannever be denied.”
Dausi said, the most open proof that MCP is hypocritical is that, it is not disputing unofficial results that are indicating that they have netted 76 parliamentary seats from the very same elections they are disputing the presidential results.
MCP did not contest in almost 40 constituencies on parliamentary level.
The disputed unofficial results show that DPP’s Peter Mutharika is in the lead with 42 percent of the votes while MCP’s Chakwera has 27 percent and Madame Joyce Banda with 23% of the votes.
