Buhera South National Assembly member Honourable Joseph Chinotimba (ZANU-PF) has been the butt of many a joke over the years
.
He is considered fair game by anyone seeking an easy laugh. But the script changed at the Harare International Carnival Comedy Night at the Book Cafe on Thursday when the parliamentarian joined local comedians on stage and cracked some of the jokes that have been made about him.
Cde Chinotimba

The house came alive when Cde Chinotimba entered accompanied by the recently crowned top three Miss Carnival models. The legislator, who was the guest of honour at the event, had the last laugh, taking the jokes made about him in stride and throwing them back at the appreciative audience.

Any newcomer to the country would not have believed that Cde Chinotimba was an MP and was making his comedy debut. Cde Chinotimba joked: “There was a day when I went with my colleagues into a book shop where we were looking for some books. Others found the books they wanted, but they saw me loitering around until they asked me: ‘Chinotimba what exactly are you looking for?’, and I told them I was looking for Facebook,’’ he said to guffaws from the audience.

He cracked another one: “I went to a birthday party with my friends and people began singing “Happy Birthday to you’. Karikoga Kaseke (the ZTA boss) asked me who was having a birthday and I told him the person was called ‘To You’.”

Cde Chinotimba also had in his repertoire his own jokes; warning married women not to be photographed with him.
“She was beaten because the husband felt threatened by my handsome looks,” he said.

Uncle Richie made a surprise appearance and retold his now famous Zim-Asset and “zvinotombofamba sei” jokes.
Fast rising Gift the Cracker took a dig at the Bryan Adams show in January.

Doc Vikela, Simba the Comic King and Q the Boss also gave rib-cracking performances.
