Five members of the Usavi family died yesterday when their Mitsubishi Lancer collided head-on with a VW Bora at the 80km peg along the Harare-Chirundu Highway near Banket.
Although their first names could not be established by late last night, Mr George Usavi, who was identified by fellow AFM church members, was with his wife and three children.
They all died on the spot.
The VW Bora, whose engine was detached on impact, had two occupants and was going towards Banket, while Mr Usavi and his family were travelling in the opposite direction.
The two occupants of the Bora were hospitalised, but their condition could not be ascertained last night.
Meanwhile, four other people died on the spot while five others were seriously injured when their car was involved in an accident along the Norton-Chibhero Road on Saturday.
The driver, Steven Chikocha, failed to negotiate a curve and the vehicle veered off the road, overturned and rolled several times.
