The late music icon and national hero Dr Oliver ‘Tuku’ Mtukudzi’s widow Daisy Mtukudzi has been appointed a co-executor of the state together with another relative Vennah Muchakagara.
Daisy and Vennah were selected as the executors at an edict meeting held at the Master of the High Court’s offices in Harare on Tuesday.
The edict meeting was presided over by the Additional Master responsible for Deceased Estates, Kumbirai Chigomararwa and was well attended by members of the Mtukudzi family. Fifteen of Mtukudzi’s relatives attended the meeting, namely, the late musician’s widow, daughters, sisters, and other relatives.
Mtukudzi had initially appointed Chibune & Associates as executor when he drafted the will in 2014. However, because the firm is now defunct, the family settled on Daisy and Vennah.
Mtukudzi’s children did not contest the will or register any objections to it despite the fact that they were left out of the will with all of the musician’s worldly property being bequeathed to his widow Daisy. As a result, the Will was accepted by the Master’s Office for administrative purposes.

The whole idea was to choose the executor and check the authenticity of the will. Two people including Daisy have been made co-executors.
After that, the whole process will go to the High Court. Everything that came after 2014 is not covered in the will but the family is not contesting on that.
