More than 70 world leaders will gather yesterday November 11th 2018 to celebrate the end of the First World War in the French capital Paris.

About 60 world leaders will join French President Emmanuel Macron in inaugurating the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum, a few hours after commemorating the centenary of the armistice that ended World War I

Despite receiving official invitation from the French president, President Biya will not be attending the event which is being hosted by one of the closest ally of the country, France.

According to sources from the presidency of the republic, the head of state Paul Biya is preoccupied with domestic affairs barely a week after he was inaugurated and given another 7 years mandate at the helm of the state.

Here are the 5 top files keeping the President busy at the moment:

1. The Anglophone crisis: In his inauguration address to Cameroonians, the President of the republic promised to do all to solve the ongoing Anglophone crisis which has been ravaging the entire North West and South West regions of the country

The head of state has been criticized for his heavy handedness on the armed militia and has been under pressure from home and abroad to initiate real and genuine dialogue to resolve the crisis.

According to the post newspaper, the lecturers have given the President of the fresh ultimatum to resolve the Anglophone crisis urgently or they risk going on strike too in a move which might cause massive headache for the state and put it under more prersure

2. Looming cabinet reshuffle: There is credible information from the inner circles of the party that the head of state will be will be bringing in some new faces in his government as a cabinet shakeup looms.

The head of state will compensate political actors who work so hard to give him a landslide victory in the just ended polls as he also looks forward to bring in more Anglophone into his government

Some names like Professor Elvis Ngole Ngole and Ekema Patrick are rumored to be considered as some of the potential ministers in the new government which is yet ti be announced.

3. MRC’s kamto’s menace: The elections might be over but Maurice Kamto is not accepting it yet. The runners up for the October 7th polls is yet to officially accept defeat in the polls and has been organizing rallies and pushing ahead his agenda that the elections were rigged even as the Constitutional Council had rejected all his claims of electoral fraud and installed the seating president.

But despite failing to receive any meaningful support at home and abroad, kamto’s stubbornness poses a real and serious threat to the government.

4. A struggling economy: President Biya is certainly aware more than any other person the massive unemployment problems in his country.

Cameroon has one of the highest unemployment rates in Africa and that is using government figures and with a young and vibrant population without jobs, the President has been preoccupied so far.

5. Rights violations: The arrest of journalist and blogger Mimi Mefor last week had generated the kind of media attention that the government has not seen for a very long time

Domestic and foreign media organs pick-up the story and demonize the government if for shutting journalists for doing their job and calls for her unconditional release grew louder, there were reports that an order had come from the Presidency to order for her immediate release on a week end which is usually rare in the country.

With such looming human rights news trolling the news bar of almost all media houses, it is only reasonable for the head of state to have avoided the spotlight where protesters were sowing their dislikes to some leaders of the free world like US Donald Trump who was participating.
