Breaking News - Maurice Kamto Brought Before The Military Court of Yaoundé

Maurice Kamto announced his victory during a press briefing at the MRC headquarters.

The candidate of the Movement for the Renaissance of Cameroon (MRC) could meet in the coming days before the Military Court of Yaoundé. The legal body has, indeed, recorded this Tuesday a complaint against Maurice Kamto for incitement to hatred and popular uprising.

According to a document whose copy has reached the editorial board of CameroonWeb, the complaint was lodged by the Observatoire du Développement Sociétal (ODS), a civil society organization. It follows the words of Maurice Kamto who, during a press briefing held yesterday Monday, had claimed victory after the presidential election of October 7 and invited President Paul Biya to ensure a “peaceful transition of power “.

Long before this civil society organization, it was the government that announced legal proceedings against Maurice Kamto after his statement.

“Mr. Kamto is obviously an outlaw. Anyone who gets in the way (national institutions) will naturally meet the rigor of the law, because the force belongs to the law, “said Minister of Communication Issa Tchiroma Bakary on France 24.
