Miss World Kenya 2017 Maglene Jeruto has clapped back at her critcis over her her looks, saying se “won’t be derailed by the criticisms”.

Speaking on Citizen Extra during Trends and Entertainment show on Wednesday the 22nd, Jeruto- who finished in the top five bracket in the Miss World pageant which had 118 participants - sai comments that she was 'not beautiful', won’t dampen her spirits of wanting to concur the world.

“I was cyber-bullied recently. It happened two months ago, when I was crowned Miss World Kenya. I came across some really, really nasty comments. Some people were saying: “She is not beautiful, she is too dark to become Miss Kenya and that we have really beautiful light-skinned ladies who can represent Kenya in the global competition,” said Ms Jeruto.

She added that she represented Africa in the global contest and for for those who see beauty on light-skinned women she reiterated that she was comfortable in her own skin.

She added that people will always criticize anyway without objectively scrutinizing who is chosen to represent Kenya I the global Miss World Pageant and if a light-skinned was picked, somebody somewhere will still find fault in that.

Jeruto’s journey to being crowned African queen started when she won Miss Elgeyo Marakwet pageant. On September 15th 2017 she was crown Miss World Kenya.
