The Francophone South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai has maintained that celebrations marking the 45th edition of the so-called Unity Day will hold hitch free in Southern Cameroons no matter pressure mounted by Anglophone Cameroonians whom he painted as “extremists”-a position earlier upheld by President Biya.


The East Cameroun political elite recently placed under a watch list by the Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium made the declaration in the Conference hall of his office on Wednesday May 17, 2017.

He reportedly instructed his close collaborators to put all in place to guarantee security during the French Cameroun event on May the 20th. Okalia Bilai said all was set to bring the people of the South West region together for the event on Saturday.

The Mayor of Buea, Patrick EKEMA Esunge who took part in the meeting told reporters that bringing people together was not a difficult task and that those who are calling for a boycott of the activities will not succeed.

The Cameroon Anglophone Civil Society Consortium, the body governing Southern Cameroons have sent out messages advocating for a boycott of the event.
