Police say the suspect fell asleep after the ordeal, which gave the woman an opportunity to escape and call the police.

Limpopo police have arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman in Waterval outside Makhado.

Authorities say the suspect broke into the house around 03:30 am on Saturday and threatened his victim before raping her.

The police’s Moatshe Ngwepe says the suspect fell asleep after the ordeal, which gave the woman an opportunity to escape and call the police.

Ngwepe says they reacted swiftly and found the suspect still asleep and arrest him.

“The arrested suspect will appear before the Waterval Magistrates Court on Monday and our investigation continue.” ewn.co.za
