The state is tomorrow expected to respond to Acie Lumumba’s application in which he wanted to take his matter to the Constitutional court.
Lumumba, through his lawyer Arshiel Mugiya, last week made an application to take the matter to the Con Court. He is being charged with undermining the authority of the President. Lumumba argued that the Prosecutor General had not authorized his prosecution as required at law.
But magistrate Chikwekwe dismissed the application saying there was no need to refuse his placement on remand since the State can always seek his prosecution. The state led by George Manokore and Oscar Madhume had it that on June 30 he was addressing people during the launch of his political party called Viva Zimbabwe at New Ambassador hotel. Lumumba reportedly said:
“Mr. President Robert Gabriel Mugabe f*** you. I am drawing the red line, our kids are in trouble so it is a red line I know and I know my name is Lumumba Lumumba”. He reportedly added by threatening the President’s children saying: “I am someone’s child, a war veteran’s child, you can touch me but I hope you live long because God forbid if something happens to you and you leave your kids, they will be touched too”.
