Was Prince (Prince Rogers Nelson) married at the time of his death? Prince was not married and was not currently reported to be in a relationship. 

However, he had been married twice in his life and also had dated Carmen Electra when she was still Tara Patrick.

When Prince was married the first time, it was to his backup dancer Mayte Garcia, but they split up in 2000. He then married Manuela Testolini, but they also split in 2006. Manuela and Prince married in 2001 in a “secret” Jehovah’s Witness wedding after meeting when she was working for one of Prince’s charitable foundations, according to LA Weekly. Manuela went on to marry Halle Berry’s ex Eric Benet. As for Mayte, she had once been the world’s youngest belly dancer as a child. Mayte ended up with Tommy Lee for a while after her marriage to Prince. Below is an Instagram photo of Mayte.

When Mayte spoke in an interview reported by Mirror about marrying a man like Prince who was twice her age, she said:

When we met I was a virgin and had never been with anybody. I’d always been a very focused dancer and very protected. Prince was my first crush, and my first love, but we didn’t start to get serious until I turned 18. He was very respectful … Our entire time together was amazing and surreal, and he showed me some incredible things and introduced me to incredible people … I think I’m now screwed for life because my first relationship was the most bizarre relationship ever and I’m not normal any more. I’ve kind-of been spoiled and I guess I am kind-of screwed-up now.

Prince had been introduced to Mayte backstage after he had seen a video of her belly-dancing. The couple married on Valentine’s Day in 1996 and went on to try to have a family. They son Boy Gregory died a week after birth as the result of Pfeiffer syndrome, which is a rare defect of the skull. His death was followed by Mayte having a miscarriage.

According to LA Weekly, some of the stars that Prince had been rumored to date during his life included Vanessa Marcil, Marvin Gaye’s daughter Nona, and Kim Basinger.
