20 year old Takudzwa Paradz has died. The man for whom musicians Tariro neGitare and many others maanged to raise 25,000 for him to fly to India for an oepration, died late night on Sunday. He had been suffering from Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I notify you on the passing of Takudzwa Rugare Paradza on Sunday evening around 2000hrs, a spokesperson told MuGrade 7. In September 2014, 20-year-old Taku was diagnosed with High Grade or Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma which by January 2015 had spread to his brain. After intensive chemotherapy, Taku went into remission mid February 2015. However, this did not last as the cancer returned May 2015, more aggressive.Early July 2015, Taku and Maria (his Mom) made their way to India where he underwent a series of medical procedures. Unfortunately, the cancer was noted to be more aggressive than initially stated which ruled out the autologous bone marrow transplant. His sister, Varaidzo, made her way to India in the hope of becoming a donor. This was unsuccessful.
At the time of his passing, a search was ongoing for a matching donor. Our condolences go to the Paradza family, his friends and everyone who took initiative to champion his cause.
More details regarding his repatriation, burial and the support required will be released in due course, as they are finalised. #AnswerTheCall
