A 21 year old mistress left an elderly married Bulawayo man hospitalised after he was allegedly attacked with an iron rod for coming home drunk.
Silethiwe Ndlovu of Matsheumhlope is facing charges of attempted murder after striking Ephraim Ncube with an iron rod on the head several times.
According to court records, Ncube, who is aged over 70 years, is married, but decided to move out of his matrimonial home to live with Ndlovu.
Bulawayo magistrate Sithembiso Ncube yesterday heard that on August 18 this year, Ncube arrived at the Matsheumhlope home where he had moved in to stay with his mistress.
He was drunk and this did not go down well with the accused. Ndlovu allegedly picked an iron rod and struck the complainant several times on the head.
It is the State case that when Ndlovu was attacking Ncube, she was seen by neighbours who then reported the matter to the police.
Ironically, Ncube's ditched wife is now caring for him while in hospital.
