THE two young women had gone to the same sangoma for help. But the evil man (67) only wanted to satisfy his own lust for sex... And now the women have come forward, saying he raped them!

They both reported cases of rape dating back to incidents in 2005 and 2009 at Hlogotlou Police Station in Sekhukhune last week.

The first victim (24) alleged that the traditional healer raped her in 2005 when she was eight monthspregnant. The woman, who cannot be named to protect her identity, said: “I went to him for help after he told me I would have complications during labour. He took me to a cemetery and told me to undress. I was suspicious but did as I was told. He brought garments for me to wear and said I needed to have sex with him for the cleansing ritual to work.

“His words confirmed my suspicion and I tried to run away, but he overpowered me and then raped me.

“He said if I told anyone he would make me go blind and dumb.”

But after the sangoma came to her family house with cops recently to demand R2 500 for the cleansing he said he had performed, the woman broke her silence.

Warrant Officer Aviva Magolego said the healer was arrested and appeared in the Nebo Magistrates Court.

Magolego said another woman (31) also came to open a case of rape against the man. The woman alleged that the rape took place in Benoni in 2009.
