A WOMAN was beaten just for her cellphone. Catherina Molejane (27) from Boshof, outside Bloemfontein was beaten and left unconscious on Saturday.
She said she was coming back from her sister’s house when she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend.
She was found by community members who alerted her family to the attack.
The attacker who has since been arrested stole her Samsung E250 cellphone and R300 in cash.
“I was walking alone on my way home when someone grabbed and hit me in the face with a sharp object,” Catherina told Daily Sun.
“As I looked up I saw it was my ex-boyfriend. Without saying a word he continued to beat me until I passed out. All I know is that I recovered at Pelonomi Hospital with my brother and neighbour by my side.”
Police spokeswoman Constable Mosili Ntsika said a 28-year-old man has been arrested.
“A case of robbery and assault with grievous bodily harm was opened and the suspect will appear in court soon,” said Mosili. Daily Sun
