The younger Mandela‚ who is also an MP‚ was convicted on March 31 of slapping‚ kicking and stomping on inebriated Mthatha motorist and teacher Mlamli Ngudle who bumped a business associate’s BMW X5.

Mandela was given a dressing-down by Mthatha Regional Court magistrate Noluthando Conjwa for claiming he acted in line with the teachings of Nelson Mandela.
Nelson Mandela’s controversial grandson‚ the Mvezo chief Mandla Mandela‚ has commended King Goodwill Zwelithini and President Jacob Zuma for attempting reverse the xenophobic sentiment sparking violence in South Africa.
Conjwa found his behaviour was in direct contrast to his grandfather’s legacy.

Mandela said on Tuesday: “We must commend King Goodwill Zwelethini and President (Jacob) Zuma for their decisive action in rallying our nation and all our communities in responding to the call to end xenophobia and related violence across South Africa.”

He said: “We call on all kings‚ chiefs‚ traditional leaders‚ provincial councils of traditional leaders and Contralesa to follow suit and send out an unequivocal message to criminals and perpetrators of acts of violence and brutality; we will not allow you free reign to act with impunity‚ committing criminal acts‚ looting‚ arson‚ assault and violence even with the intent to commit murder; all under the guise of xenophobia.’’

He said: “We must not leave space for criminals to abuse vulnerable fellow Africans‚ asylum seekers and refugees.”

“’We call on all in this beautiful country of ours to be vigilant and on the guard against criminals‚ agent provocateurs and anyone who threatens the peace‚ security and stability of our nation.’’ – Daily Dispatch
