HIGHLANDERS took many by surprise by hiring out their club house premises to PHD Ministries, led by Prophet Walter Magaya for a paltry $100. A receipt circulating on social media signed by one of the club’s office staff members with the name S Gumede shows that Highlanders charged the fast growing church $100 for eight hours despite the fact that the club needs to maximise on revenue collection.
What makes it even more interesting is that Highlanders pay way more than that amount per week for use of Bulawayo City Council’s facilities for a few hours of training for their first team.
Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede confirmed that they had hired out the venue to PHD Ministries.
“It’s true we hired out the venue for $100. What’s wrong with that? We had initially told them that the ground is not usable as it is not clean but they insisted that they will clean the ground of which they did at no cost,” said Gumede. B-Metro
