A woman who spent her December pay and bonus without sharing with her husband has been shown the exit door.
Tempers flared at Elvanos Mugore’s homestead on 23 January when he asked his wife Nobuhle why she did not bring her December salary and the bonus.
In a fit of rage, the furious Mugore reportedly ordered his wife to pack her belongings then vacate their homestead.
As if that was not enough, a packed court heard that Mugore assaulted his wife with a baton stick all over the body.
As a result of the thorough bashing, his wife sustained a swollen right hand. It is reported his wife obliged and went to her parents’ homestead.
However, with a cold home, Mugore sent his sister to convince his wife to return, which she did. But on her return she filed a police case leading to his arrest.
Mugore appeared at Inyathi Civil Court before presiding magistrate on circuit Tawanda Muchemwa.
“Your worship I am sorry for beating my wife with a baton stick and for emotionally abusing her,” Mugore pleaded with the magistrate.
His wife narrated how she was abused by him.
“I live in fear. He always insults, emotionally abuses and beats me on a regular basis,” said Nobuhle. In his ruling Muchemwa ordered the two to go for counselling at eMthonjeni Centre.
