HARARE - Tocky Vibes is committing a professional suicide by his uncalled for suicidal gymnastics. During his short stint, he has attracted a lot of unwanted attention after he snubbed a show to play alongside with Oliver Mtukudzi.
Tocky Vibes commits suicide
After being offered this rare chance, he missed this opportunity to mingle with the superstar who has vast experience under his musical belt. Tuku has been known to have assisted a diverse collection of musical talents to blossom. In addition, he also partook countless duets with a lot of budding musicians. The recent notable ones were between Mtukudzi and Sulumani Chimbetu which went viral on most musical platforms.

That was not all. His under performance during musical shows has also left a lot to be desired. Fans have been left complaining because of his undesirable showing. At one stage, Jah Prayzer wanted to rescue him after a usual below par performance. His response was to shove him off the stage in order to contain the fame to himself. In his mind, he thought the lanky singer wanted to steal the limelight. The scuffle cause a lot of mayhem that was intervened by security personal manning the show.

Though he is talented, his conduct has been questionable. He is not professional in his conduct and rarely follows the musical best practices. Music is known to a game of combinations and always people need to share the stage and share the fame. Whoever is advising him has failed dismally.

Even though he is a brand, he has religiously snubbed offers to be interviewed by the media, saying they will tarnish his image. Contrary, his non-showing at scheduled press conferences has attracted a lot of negative publicity on his part. The media can be a channel to promote one's fame, though it can be a tool to pull one down if not properly manipulated, as clarified in his case.

Tocky Vibes has been known to have an "I don’t care attitude" towards others. He has been labeled anti-social, a behavior which has left him with very few friends. At one instance he claimed he did not have a phone. Could this be because of his rural upbringing, such that everyone becomes a suspect even those seeking to elevate his career like the great Mtukudzi?

Moreover, his stage performance has left a lot to be desired. With albums having been overtaken by piracy, stage performance has become a way to market music and make more money. If an artiste fails to perform at a live show, then he is not guaranteed of any prolonged success. In short, there is no survival without stage performances because it is virtually the sole source of income for many performers.

It has become a norm for Tocky to blame the sound engineers when he fails to convince his fans. Obviously, he is not one to take the blame for his shortcomings. Musically, he has not achieved much but he has become thick-headed to the extent of blaming everyone other than himself. He needs to remain humble and respect those who have made in the musical fraternity such as Mtukudzi, a man who has proved beyond doubt that he can surpass all challenges.

What then is all the vibe with Tock Vibes? He barely has two songs that made it into the top charts but he has been elevated with what Dr. Clarence, a respected music producer calls, 'mob psychology'. Yes, he is a man of the moment but for how long? Music is a game of numbers. Without a crowd, one is guaranteed to fail. Fame can be cold if you don’t have many friends and it can die a natural death if it is not properly managed.

In 2015, his capability will be under scrutiny from the musical world. Tocky really needs expert grooming, now that he has been roped in to be a brand ambassador for large cooperates. So, if he continues to snub other musicians who are masters of the craft, his fall will be quicker than his rise to fame. His fans are waiting. They have offered him ample time to reform, its either he changes or they shift to other musicians who appease their tastes.
