PF Chairperson and former Minister of Gender Inonge Mutukwa Wina is the new Vice President of the Republic of Zambia. President Lungu has appointed Inonge Wina to take over from Dr.Guy Scott. Ms Wina becomes the country’s first ever female Vice President in Zambia. The appointment was announced by President Lungu during his first news conference at State House where he unveiled his initial cabinet.

Jean Kapata also retains her position as Tourism Minister with Davies Mwila getting the position of Home Affairs Minister.

President Lungu has also appointed Mr Emmanuel Chilubanama as State House Permanent Secretary with Kaizer Zulu retaining the post of Special Assistant to the Press for Political Affairs.

Dawson Kafwaya is the new provincial Minister for North Western Province.Mr Nathiel Mubukwanu is the new Southern Province Minister to replace Daniel Munkombwe.

President Lungu announced that he will make further appointments when he returns from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the Africa Union Summit.

Meanwhile, former Zambia Daily Mail News Editor Amos Chanda is the new State House spokesperson taking over from George Chellah.


Chanda, who was Chellah’s deputy for a brief period when the late President Michael Sata won the election in September 2011, now takes the responsibility of the media section.

The soft-spoken Chanda was in unexplained circumstances transferred from State House to London as First Secretary for Press although he was seen as the mature and more accomplished spokesperson.

Chanda was until assuming political office Press Association of Zambia vice-president and further played a key role in the formation of the Zambia Media Council (ZAMEC) – a self regulatory body.

Secretary to Cabinet, Dr. Rowland Msiska announced that following the election of President Edgar Chagwa Lungu, he has dissolved Cabinet and immediately appointed Chanda as his mouthpiece.

Chanda joined Dr Ngosa Simbyakula who was appointed as Justice Minister at the inauguration ceremony of Lungu as first members of his inner circle.

President Lungu said the rest of the Cabinet will be announced when he returns from an African Union engagement.
