A 70 year old man from Mt Hampden was taken to court facing charges of taking turns to rape his teenage granddaughter and her friend aged nine in his son’s room after promising them US$1 each.
Nobody Matsika appeared at the Harare Magistrates courts charged with rape.
He was not asked to plead when he appeared before Magistrate Milton Serima, who remanded him in custody to January 26 for trial.
Matsika was also advised to approach the High Court for bail application.
Prosecutor Sebastian Mutizirwa said that sometime in December 2013, Matsika’s granddaughter was playing with her friends in her father’s house. It’s alleged that Matsika entered into the house and started talking to the girls.
He reportedly promised to give them US$1 each on condition that they removed their clothes.
The court that the girls refused but Matsika went on to undress his grand daughter in full view of her friends. It was said that that Matsika forced himself on her while the other girls watched.
After abusing his own’s son’s daughter, Matsika allegedly turned on her nine year old friend and also raped her.
The matter came to light when the three girls were heard by a neighbour shouting at each other over the issue.
The neighbour called the girls and quizzed them over the said abuse.
The girls then narrated everything but the shameless grandfather had already returned to his place in Rusape.
