Tryson Chimbetu has AGAIN accused his cousin Suluman of stealing his concept in one of his songs on the latter’s latest album Gunship.
Tryson claims that Sulu’s first song, Moto as well as the other part of the name of the Fireguard is derived from his unreleased song Isa Moto.
Dr Nero as Tryson is known has been sampling is song Isa Moto since the beginning of the year and Sulu’s own version is a direct contradiction to the former’s lyrics. ” I have been sampling this song for a long time and all Dendera fans are aware of that. I even performed the song in his(Sulu’s) presence at Harare gardens. Ini ndinoimba kuti isa moto iye akuuya achiti ndiyani apisa moto musango reDendera,” he said.
Tryson claims that Sulu, in the song went on to mention names of music promoters and his top fans to quench the fire. In his understanding of the lyrics, Tryson said Sulu appeals for help to make his works irrelevant. ” He went on to sing names of the promoters in the song to quench the fire which I started,’ he said.
Cousins Sulu and Tryson ChimbetuIt is however true that Tryson has been sampling the song way before Sulu made his public. The song which is performed simultaneously with a dance with the same name was even published in the media. His argument can not hold much water since it is not recorded officially.
He, however argued that he has recorded live performances of the song. Tryson said he has nothing personal with Sulu but said he was very disappointed by Suluman’s conduct which he said is meant to counter his forthcoming project.
In his response, Sulu through his publicists Joe Local Nyamungoma dismissed the claims saying Sulu does not even know of Tryson’s song.” We don’t even know that song,’ he said. ” Well if he thinks that we countered his song it is okay. We are professionals, we don’t fight in the press, but I think that the fact that we released an 11 track album is a clear indication that we can compose as many songs as we can.
“We actually want Dendera music to dominate and there is no way we will work against him, in fact we have serious business to do. I don’t think we will get time for such useless things. We would like to listen to his song when he releases it and check if there are similar lyrics.”
This is not the first time that Tryson has complained of being sabotaged by Sulu having accused his cousin of plotting his downfall along with music promoters.
The Pahotera singer has come out before guns blazing in the press saying Suluman if afraid of him after he was barred from perfoming at the Chopper Chimbetu commemorations last year
