Cletus Mushanawani in Mutare
THE Zanu-PF Manicaland Women’s League executive yesterday booted out its chairperson Cde Joyline Chipo Porusingazi and her vice Cde Loveness Mutezo over a number of allegations, among them pursuing a factional agenda and undermining the authority of President Mugabe.
A total of 22 members out of 38 signed the vote of no confidence which was read to the press by the executive’s secretary for administration, Cde Happiness Nyakuedzwa at the Manicaland Provincial Administrator Conference Room in Mutare.
Cde Nyakuedzwa will be the interim chairperson.
“We, the undersigned members of the provincial Women’s League executive, having met in Mutare to deliberate on the goings on in the provincial party affairs and dissatisfied with the conduct and performance of the provincial chairlady, Joyline Chipo Porusingazi and vice provincial chairlady, Loveness Mutezo, we hereby pass a vote of no-confidence in the two by appending our signatures below.
“The chairlady and her vice were found jointly and severally responsible for the following: (1) pursuing a factional agenda in the leadership of the province by undermining the authority of the President and First Secretary of the party, HE Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe; (2) poorly mobilising and appearing aloof during the First Lady Amai Dr Grace Mugabe’s rally at Sakubva Stadium on October 10, 2014 and their failure to condemn the bussing in of rowdy youths who openly tried to disrupt the First Lady’s rally by being rowdy and violent; (3) holding kangaroo meetings to discuss provincial Women’s League issues outside official structures, thereby abetting divisions in the party and (4) leading the league on the basis of gossip, thereby undermining unity in the Women’s League.”
Both Cdes Porusingazi and Mutezo could not comment on the development, only saying they were not aware of the meeting.
The dismissal of the two came barely a week after the booting out of the controversial Cde Sheila Mutsenhu who was provincial youth deputy secretary for tourism and provincial youth secretary for security, Cde Emmanuel Tavaziva.
The two were shown the door by the provincial youth executive last Friday for causing chaos and humiliating top leaders.
The youth provincial leadership arrived at the decision after the two allegedly hired a mob to disrupt the provincial co-ordinating committee meeting held at Marymount Teachers’ College.
The Masholand West Women’s League executive, and their Masvingo counterparts also recently booted out chairpersons Cdes Constance Shamu and Shylet Uyoyo.
